Charting the Way Forward for U.S. Global Social Work Education During COVID-19 and Beyond

Leaders of U.S.-based global social work education programs faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. This poster presents the results of a qualitative exploratory study that identifies leaders’ educational strategies, addresses their concerns in maintaining global partnerships, and reaffirms their commitments to the value of international engagement in turbulent times.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will analyze the challenges encountered by faculty of leading social work global programs during the initial impact of COVID-19 and the strategies to navigate future disruptions effectively.
  2. Participants will evaluate strategies for maintaining the integrity of existing program principles, including ethical standards and guiding philosophies.
  3. Participants will demonstrate the ability to implement program principles and adaptive strategies effectively within the context of global engagement during the “new normal” of the COVID-19 era.
