Intergenerational Living and the Integration of Indigenous Knowledge in Social Work Practice

Intergenerational living, rooted in indigenous cultures, emphasizes community cohesion, mutual support, and elder wisdom. Integrating indigenous knowledge into social work fosters cultural humility, strengthens community, and promotes resilience. This workshop explores how social workers can respectfully integrate these principles into practice.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will comprehend the significance of indigenous knowledge and intergenerational living models in enhancing community resilience and well-being.
  2. Participants will explore strategies for respectfully integrating indigenous knowledge into their work with individuals, families, and communities.
  3. Participants will collaborate to develop culturally responsive approaches that honor the principles of intergenerational living and indigenous wisdom.
