This interactive workshop provides a broad overview of the history of Indigenous Peoples in the US territory and current social justice issues that provide participants with the background for why land acknowledgements are important not only during university and college events but in the classroom as well.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To understand the history and intention of land acknowledgements.
  2. To examine reconciliation and forgiveness as it pertains to the land.
  3. To identify practices that incorporate land/place acknowledgement, as well as allyship and support for Indigenous Peoples.
