Indigenous and Tribal

Wičhózani-Wašté (Good Health and Wellness)

Earn 1 CE Hour
This workshop will explore Indigenous Ways of Knowing and the impact that social workers have with Indigenous people and communities. For the Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota people, the circle signifies support. The meaning of Wičhózani-wašté, which is sacred wellness, good health, and the act of balancing will be explored.

Learning Objectives:

  1. increase their understanding of how to establish collective engagement and strengths of Indigenous people to create circles of support that foster wellness and well-being for our Tribal Nations as a best practice.
  2. take away an understanding of the relational concept that all living things are needed for balance and harmony.
  3. engage in experiential based activities to gain an understanding of the story of resiliency and strength for Indigenous people.
