A Comparison of Religious and Spiritual Beliefs Among Latinx Parents of Children With Disabilities

This presentation focuses on exploring the differences in the importance of spiritual/religious beliefs and practices between Latinx parents who have children with emotional, physical, and cognitive disabilities and implications for education and practice through a cross-sectional survey. Data from 154 Latinx parents was analyzed through a multiple linear regression model.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to understand how the importance of religious and spiritual beliefs/practices among Latinx parents with a child with a disability differs based upon the type of disability.
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to identify significant predictors that impact the importance of religious and spiritual beliefs/practices among Latinx parents with a child with a disability.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will understand how to integrate religious and spiritual beliefs/practices into clinical practice with Latinx parents with a child with a disability.
