An In-Depth Review of Korean American Community Building and Political Empowerment

This study provides an in-depth review of up-to-date research on the community building and political empowerment of Korean Americans. The review focuses on how class, generation, and region (urban vs rural) intersect in the Korean American community and how these intragroup differences shape the challenges and strengths of the community.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To understand the unique acculturation processes of Korean Americans by class, generation, and region
  2. To identify unique barriers, challenges, and difficulties Korean Americans face in building community and political influence
  3. To review practical strategies and resources for Korean American empowerment including finding allies and coalition building with other Asian and BIPOC communities
