The Missing and Murdered Indigenous People crisis represents a complex issue rooted in historical and ongoing violence against Indigenous peoples. This presentation explores the concept of "Repowering" within Indigenous advocacy, a term that signifies not merely empowering but also restoring inherent power to Indigenous communities to combat the MMIR crisis.

Describe the work that Missing and Murdered Indigenous People organizations are doing in communities throughout the United as well as describe the barriers that these organizations face when trying to help MMIP, their families, and communities.
Demonstrate an understanding of the strength of modern Indigenous Women as leaders rather than a population that needs pity or saviors.
Define the meaning of the word repowered and understand the concept behind the word. Additionally, participants will begin to have an understanding of how to apply this concept to other communities.
