This study surveyed 432 foster care alumni about the social support they received while transitioning out the system. Results indicated that social support was a significant predictor of homelessness, educational attainment, and employment after they aged out of the system. Unfortunately, most participants did not receive enough social support.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will be able to understand how much social support the foster care alumni had received during their transitioning out of the system.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to understand how social support impacted alumni's homelessness, educational attainment, and employment.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to see how demographics such as gender, age, number of homes, impacted the above three outcome variables.
