Utilizing a mixed methods design, we explored how two different social work buildings impacted students who had experienced trauma and/or had disabilities or were in larger bodies. Students highlighted the fact that building design did not always align with social work values around inclusivity and social justice.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the impact of trauma-informed design in social work spaces on students' emotional, physical, and academic well-being.
Explain how elements of social work building designs impact students with disabilities as well as those in larger bodies or who have experienced trauma.
Generate ideas to improve the accessibility and trauma-informed nature of social work buildings and meeting spaces.
