Text Mining of Social Media Posts: Unveiling the Aging Experiences of Chinese Immigrants

This study explores the aging experiences of Chinese immigrants via social media analysis. It highlights the need for a holistic understanding of their lives, encompassing social, cultural, familial, physical, and spiritual dimensions. It also underscores the importance of cultural humility practices to foster an inclusive environment for aging immigrants.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to learn about the unique challenges and adaptations faced by aging Chinese immigrants, gaining insights into their societal, cultural, familial, and health-related experiences.
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to recognize the value of social media as a rich data source for exploring the lived experiences of immigrant communities.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to apply insights from the study to advocate for practices that address the unique needs of aging Chinese immigrants, promoting their well-being and integration within their communities.
