The Mediating Effect of Self-Reported Mental Health between Depression Literacy and Depressive Symptoms

This study investigates the mediating role of self-rated mental health between depression literacy and symptoms among Korean Americans, with a focus on gender differences. Fiindings suggest that for women, self-rated mental health fully mediates this relationship, highlighting the need for community-based educational programs to mitigate depression by enhancing depression awareness.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to understand pathways from depression literacy to depressive symptoms.
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to understand the importance of increasing awareness of mental health.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to acknowledge the importance of community-based mental health educational programs in the Korean American population.
