Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Mental Health Education for Rural Older Adults

Given the rise of mental health concerns and access to care for rural older adults, an online lecture series can be implemented to empower rural healthcare providers, older adults, and social networks. The series aligns with social work values and incorporates an evidence-based framework; 4Ms of the Age-Friendly Health System.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Presenters will describe the mental health landscape for older adults living in rural areas.
  2. Presenters will discuss the content, creation, and implementation of a four-part online psychoeducational lecture series geared towards older adults and their support networks.
  3. Presenters will define and describe the principles of an Age-Friendly approach to rural mental health care.
