This narrative review explores the impact of restrictive migration policies on the health of Brazilian immigrants living in America. Findings reveal numerous challenges, including racism, poor working conditions, and unequal health outcomes. Further research on the unique health struggles faced by the Brazilian-born population residing in the U.S. is needed.
Learning Objectives:
Upon attendance, conference participants will be able to better understand the impact of non-health policies on immigrant health and well-being. More specifically, participants should be able to articulate a comprehensive understanding of the social determinants of health affecting Latinx and Brazilian immigrants in the US.
The presentation should empower participants to propose culturally competent interventions to address health disparities among minoritized and racialized migrants. This entails offering solutions that consider cultural nuances and diversity within the Latinx and Brazilian communities.
By the end of the paper presentation, participants should also be equipped to analyze the current policy issues impacting the health of Brazilian immigrants in the US. This involves exploring existing policies related to healthcare access and immigration and understanding their implications on health outcomes.
