The therapist-client relationship is a strong predictor of client outcomes. This relationship is harmed when clinicians commit microaggressions, have limited cultural competence, and poor professional quality of life. It is important to understand the relationship between these constructs given they have implications for therapist and client mental health.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will be able to describe the challenges to rapport-building between behavioral health professionals and BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to define cultural competence, multicultural counseling self-efficacy, and professional quality of life for behavioral health professionals.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to explain the association between behavioral health professionals’ cultural competence, multicultural counseling self-efficacy, and professional quality of life, as well as the implications of these constructs for client outcomes.
