Practicum education is designated as the signature pedagogy of social work education; however, internship directors may be under-prepared and lack the support needed to engage in work focused on dismantling racist structures. Information presented will focus on strategies internship directors can use with placements to engage in this critical work.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify common challenges internship sites experience in meeting ADEI competencies within social work education.
Upon completion, participants will be able to develop concrete strategies to assess internship sites commitment to, and alignment with, ADEI practices.
Upon completion, participants will be able to analyze ways the internship director can collaborate with placements to increase their understanding of, and commitment to, ADEI practices.
